What is NEON?

It is a Department of Labor Community Based Job Training Grant project awarded to the Mississippi Corridor Consortium colleges which consists of Itawamba Community College, East Mississippi Community College, and Northeast Mississippi Community College.  NEON is geared to assist students with career options, employment opportunities and alternate pathways for achieving career goals.

The main purposes of the grant:

  • To increase the supply of CNAs, LPNs and RNs
  • To increase the number of MSN prepared nursing faculty members
  • To increase available opportunities for current nursing students or students who have previously earned nursing credit

  • Assist students around barriers which impede student progress; i.e.: financial, life demands, student preparation, attrition/retention
